Bios

Eric Lyman,  Owner/Principal Landscape Architect 

EricEric is a seasoned landscape architect with close to 30 years of experience.  A Utah State University graduate,  Eric worked for two different firms in the state before starting his own practice in 1988.  Since that time,  Eric’s portfolio has grown to include numerous projects throughout the United States and beyond. Eric is dedicated to working with the client from schematic design through construction administration to ensure a quality end product. Despite his depth of experience,  Eric is always looking for ways to improve the landscape,  be it meeting with a manufactures to develop new products,  or bringing various components into the office to build mock-ups. Eric has served as President and Vice President of the Utah Chapter of Landscape Architects,  Board Member of Tree Utah,  Chairman and member of the Sandy City Beautification Committee and Member of the Sandy City Parks and Trails Committee.

Eric is a competitive skier and spends much of his free time during the winter months racing or volunteering at racing events. During the summer months,  Eric enjoys fly fishing and riding his mules in the backcountry of Utah and surrounding states. Eric has a wife and three children.

Cody Brazell,  Senior Associate Landscape Architect

CodyCody started his career at E.A. Lyman Landscape Architects in 2007.  He graduated from Utah State University in Landscape Architecture in 2004 and later graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a masters degree in Landscape Architecture in 2007.  Prior to his career as a landscape architect,  he spent many years building what landscape architects designed. His in-the-field experience of landscape and irrigation installation gives him practical knowledge of the construction process. He has been involved in the design of a wide variety of projects which include many commercial developments,  residential design,  governmental,  educational,  medical,  and institutional projects. He has been able to participate in all aspects of the design process from the beginning concepts to final occupancy. He is currently serving as the Utah ASLA Vice President for Education and Licensure.

Cody has a passion for outdoor recreation. He shares this passion with his wife,  three children,  and chocolate lab doing activities such as hunting,  fishing,  canoeing,  hiking,  camping and the list goes on. He also loves spending time in the garden and Dutch oven cooking.

Scott Stephens,  Associate Landscape Designer

ScottScott has been with E.A. Lyman Landscape Architects since 2010. A Utah native,  Scott studied horticulture at BYU-Idaho before pursuing a masters degree in landscape architecture at the University of Arizona. Having worked for several landscape construction and maintenance companies,  along with a nursery,  Scott has been able to broaden his skill set with field experience in Arizona,  Colorado,  Idaho,  and Utah. While attending graduate school,  he had the opportunity to be employed by a cooperative extension and outreach design group developing plans for municipalities and tribal lands. Scott is always looking for creative ways to enhance human experiences through landscape design. For his graduate thesis,  Scott worked on the design development of a new elephant exhibit which will open shortly at Tucson’s Reid Park Zoo.

Scott enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his wife and daughter. Some of his interests include hiking,  mountain biking,  skiing,  swimming,  reading,  and cooking.
